With the theme “Tunnels for a Better Life”, the 2014 World Tunnel Congress took place in Foz do Iguaçu. The congress had simultaneous translation into Portuguese, English, Spanish and French, provided by the company Traduções do Mercosul.
The event, which aimed to promote and contribute to the development of tunnels as a solution to the major challenges of modern infrastructure, was attended by more than 1,500 people and brought together scientists, authorities, professionals, students, equipment suppliers, engineering companies and other interested parties, who took advantage of the opportunity to learn good practices, share success stories and exchange experiences and knowledge. The presentations were given in Portuguese, English and Spanish and could be watched in the three languages with simultaneous translation, thanks to a large professional team of interpreters, organized and coordinated by the company Traduções do Mercosul.
The WTC took place at the Bourbon Cataratas Convention & Spa Hotel between May 9 and 14 and, on several occasions, featured several rooms with presentations in parallel with simultaneous translation in English and Spanish, which required a significant number of interpreters who worked in pairs and were supervised and coordinated at the same time.
The event, which is held annually, was a great success in its edition in Foz do Iguaçu, far exceeding initial expectations in terms of the number of participants and sponsors and confirming the potential of this city to host large-scale events.
